Inca Trail Permits and Availability 2023 and 2024

We strongly recommend you to - Act NOW with your online bookings for MARCH - DECEMBER 2023 - We are now taking bookings for trek departures in 2024.

We have been informed by the government that Inca Trail Trek Permits for departures in 2023 will go on sale in early November, 2022. (Last year trek permits for some dates in April, May and June sold out within a few hours so you must book much earlier this year). Please try to book before the end of September if possible to avoid disappointment. (Permits are so limited every year... we recommend you to book (9-7 months in advance)

On this page we want to show in real time the space available for the classic Inca Trail also called inca , this page is connected to the system of the ministry of culture, so you will see the same as in the website of the Ministry of Culture.

Tours in the Inca Trail are the unique in Peru that need a permit, these permits change day after day in order to protect the inca trail, thats why this trekking is so especial and is continuing considered in 2023 as the best hikes in the world.

The Inca Trail will be closed the month of February by disposition of the Ministry of Culture of Peru, because maintenance, upkeep and cleaning will be performed. The entrance to the Inca Trail will be re-enabled from March 1.

ITEP Eco Travel is from Cusco and has a team who are able to book and collect your permit in person of the Ministry of Culture of Peru that is located in Cusco. This means that as soon as your permit is confirmed, you are guaranteed to trek the Inca Trail on the date that you want to travel.
In order to preserve the surroundings of Inca Trail the Peruvian authorities (Ministry of Culture) currently limit the number of access to the Inca Trail, only allowed 500 people per day, including hikers, guides, porters and other staff support. Permits often sell out months in advance and you must book in advance to secure your space, especially if you want to trek in the high season, which is from June to August.

In this section you can check the permits and availability of the Inca Trail provided by the Ministry of Culture of Peru. Here some information should take into account:
  • The month of February is rainy season so the Ministry closes the Inca Trail.
  • The availability we use is the same to any other agency, because this information is directly provided by the Ministry of Culture of Peru.
  • The number of places available is very variable. Agencies usually book up to 30 spaces, do not be surprised if in a time when there are no more spaces available.
  • The spaces shown are for either route be it Short Inca Trail 2 days or Classic Inca Trail 4 days.
  • Availability is exclusively administered by the Ministry of Culture. Only they can manage and authorize the access to the Inca Trail.
  • The Inca Trail is enabled only for 500 spaces per day, within which includes staff spaces.

Note: Inca Trail Availability is displayed in real time. First you must choose the month and year you want to come to Peru, followed by the date of your trek. The number shown per day is the number of places available to the selected date. “0” means that there is no longer any space available.

If permits for your desired date are Sold Out, you can always book for next year or consider the Salkantay Trek as the best alternative to Inca Trail
